The British Society for Heart Failure and the Alliance for Heart Failure have agreed the terms of a working relationship, which sees the BSH reestablished as a full member of the Alliance.
Over the next 25 years, the BSH’s #25in25 campaign wants to change the trajectory of heart failure and reduce deaths by 10,000 each year. Given the growing burden of the disease, it is one of the most important campaigns in health today.
The Alliance will be working alongside with the BSH, focusing in particular on early detection, better management of the disease in the community and expanding the role of primary care.
Katharine Mcintosh, Co-Chair of the Alliance said: “We are delighted to be working more closely with the British Society for Heart Failure at such a pivotal moment. With NHS reforms on the horizon, there is a real opportunity to transform care and improve outcomes for people living with heart failure across the country. We look forward to supporting their 25in25 campaign with our recent focus on timely diagnosis and better management of the condition in primary care.”
Dr Lisa Anderson, Chair of the Board of the British Society for Heart Failure, said: “The Alliance for Heart Failure’s recent focus on primary care offers a huge asset to our campaign to reduce heart failure deaths by 25% in the first year of diagnosis over the next 25 years. We look forward to working more closely to explore innovative ways of improving outcomes for heart failure patients in the community and across primary care.”
